Liquid Filled Capsules

Liquid Filled Capsules

The gelatine liquid capsules are the most common form of dosage produced by nearly all the pharmaceutical industries. These capsules were initially in the form of tablets and powders. The technology of filling the capsules with liquid started in the early 1980s. These capsules were designed or developed to compete with the other forms of capsules which were already in the market.

However, the liquid capsules had advantages over the tablets since they required less moisture and less transmission of gas during the production process. Additionally, the liquid capsules could be assimilated easily into the body since they did not have any harmful coating. Again, they could be stored easily for long periods of time since they did not require any form of reservation. These capsules mainly consisted of (HPMC) hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose.

The manufacturing process

The manufacturing process is simple. The shell is filled with medicine using the latest technologies. The different drugs to be used are first melted and mixed completely. Blending is then done to ensure that the capsule is filled. Finally sealing of the liquid drug is done using the shells. Sealing is done properly to ensure that the liquid does not flow out. The shell used is semi-permeable to allow the movement of nutrients into the shell. However, the semi-permeable shell does not allow the liquid to move out of the shell.

Shells

The main ingredient used in making the capsule’s shells is gelatin. Initially these capsules were only covered with gelatin, but currently, the main ingredient is blended with other materials to produce a more stable shell. The shell’s components were designed and then manufactured to get the most appropriate composition of the medicines.

Advanced forms of capsules were produced from further designs, and they were used as prescription drugs in treating the main ailments. With these shells, the medicine can reach the body and get the assimilated easily.

High potency

These capsules contain most of the anti-cancer agents. Furthermore, more and more capsule are produced on a daily basis. This helps in minimizing the consumption of the bitter medicines some of which would harm the soft tissues of your tongue. Also, these capsules are very safe as they do not cause any harm to the body’s organs. Additionally, the liquid capsules are absorbed directly into the bloodstream from the digestive tract. This helps in saving energy and time that would be required in digesting the traditional pills which were consumed by people. Another advantage of these capsules is that they are readily available in the market.
